‘Wyvis Natural Play Park’ is now officially open

A new play area for adventurous youngsters (and others!) has opened (25 June) at Forest Enterprise Scotland’s Bridges trail at Little Garve.

The brainchild of Loch Luichart Community Trust (2014) and four years in the making, the play area has been funded by £200,000 of Community Benefit funding from renewables company ENECO.

The site is at the ‘Wade’s Bridge’ end of the Two Bridges Trail.

Hazel Robertson for the FES team in North Highland, said;

“We were approached in 2014 by Sharon Wright, from the Community Trust, who came to us with a brilliant and well thought-out plan to develop a natural play area at Little Garve.

“We thought it was a great idea and leased the Community Trust the land under the old National Forest Land Scheme.

“It’s a great amenity for local kids who, in this part of the world don’t have much to entertain them, so we were more than happy to be involved.”

As well as the play area and trails, the site includes a picnic area, complete with tables and benches and car parking – both at Little Garve and at Silverbridge.

There are public toilets at nearby Garve village hall and also at Rogie Falls (summer only). Other facilities, as well as shops and places to eat, can be found in Strathpeffer and Dingwall.

To get there from Inverness, follow the A9 north to the Tore roundabout. Take the A835 (for Ullapool) for about 18 miles (28.8 km)….about 2 miles (3.2 km) after Garve you'll see forest signs to Little Garve on your right. Turn here and follow the minor road to the car park at grid reference NH 395 629.
