Comments invited on Glen Urquhart plan

Forest Enterprise Scotland (FES) is inviting members of the public and interested stakeholders to comment on a revised land management plan for Glen Urquhart.

Peter Walling, Planning Forester with the Forest Enterprise team in Inverness, Ross & Skye, said;

“The land management plan we are formulating will set out what we intend to do in Glen Urquhart to manage the land and forests in the area.

“It will replace the current Forest Design Plan, which comes to an end in 2017, and we are keen to ensure that we take into account as many views as we can about how we manage this forest.

“Anyone who would like to get involved can look over the proposals online and leave us their thoughts and comments.”

Glen Urquhart forest lies within Glen Urquhart in Inverness-shire and covers an area of approximately 2,680 hectares, which includes forest and open ground.

The new plan, which is still at an early stage of development, will eventually run from 2016 to 2026.

As well as a location, features and concept maps, the webpage also contains a brief overview of the provisional land management plan.

Comments must be submitted by 14 September 2015.
