East Loch Ard Land Managment Plan area combines two previous plans and was approved by Forestry Commission Scotland on 25th March 2016 following consultation with a range of stakeholders. Lying to the south of the village of Aberfoyle the forest contains a wide range of native and non-native species and forms part of the important timber producing Loch Ard Forest.  It is also part of the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park  and is equally important for recreation, landscape and conservation. The key objectives of the plan reflect this importance as a muti-purpose forest delivering a wide range of eco-system services.
