Review of forestry planting approval procedures June 2017

Jim Mackinnon submitted his up-dated review of progress in implementing the recommendations to reduce the complexity, duration and cost of woodland creation applications.

We continue to make progress and our key achievements this month include:

  • revised protocols with SNH, SEPA and HES have been signed;
  • new EIA threshold criteria have been agreed;
  • monthly performance reports are now being published;
  • we are working on a new pre-application and consultation process and considering how the EIA fits into this;
  • the recommendation to introduce accredited agents has received a mixed response, so we are working with stakeholders to explore other options that would deliver the same desired result; and
  • new marketing material has been created and will be available at all the summer shows.

James Nott said: “I’m particularly pleased with the new marketing materials as they give us a much more visual presence with the summer show season now upon us. We have agreed the content of this for this year but will be reviewing content at the end of the season which will shape how we communicate going forward so please feed back comments to This email address is being protected from spambots.
