Local good causes in the north east will get an extra Christmas gift this year thanks to The Rotary Club of Aberdeen, Balgownie.

Rotary Club volunteers teamed up with Forest Enterprise Scotland and raised £3,122 for charities by marshalling traffic at the Tyrebagger Christmas Tree sales centre car park.

Ray Grant, lead volunteer from the Rotary Club of Aberdeen, said

“We would like to thank Forest Enterprise Scotland for giving us the opportunity to join their team at Tyrebagger.

“It is a very pleasant place to be at this time of year because everyone was beginning to get excited about Christmas – and the good will was evident in all the visitors.

“Thanks to their generous donations, we raised a lot for local charities - and that is always welcomed.

“We all had a very enjoyable experience and we are hoping to return next year.”

The Tyrebagger Christmas trees sales centre welcome 20,000 people to the forest each December so the rotary club volunteers were kept busy.

Dan Cadle, Tyrebagger centre manager, said;

“We really appreciated the volunteers help this year. The centre gets steadily busier throughout December and the car park can get very congested at times.

“They managed to keep traffic moving, prevent the car park from getting jammed and also helped visitors find parking spaces.

“They did a great job and we’re really pleased that they managed to raise so much money for local charities.”

The money raised will be disbursed in the New Year to local good causes, including CLAN – the NE cancer charity.
