Inverness woods and you

Local people and visitors making use of woodlands around Inverness are being invited to help shape how those woodlands are managed.

Forest Enterprise Scotland’s team in the area is reviewing how it looks after five key sites, including their facilities: Ord Hill, Craig Phadraig, Daviot, Culloden and Culloden Muir.

Joachim Boehm, FES Planning Forester, said;

“We are reviewing our Land Management Plan for these woodlands and are really keen to know what makes these places special and how visitors use them.

“The Plan will set out how we will look after and use these woodlands over the next ten years (and beyond) and it will consider a wide range of activities, from core-forestry work like “felling and planting trees” - to work with nature and people.”

“There are often competing demands on our woodlands, so getting the views of as many people and organisations as possible will help us strike the right balance.”

Draft proposals, and a survey where visitors can give their views, are available online.

There is also to be a series of consultation events where people can speak to FES staff and find out more. These will be on

  • Thurs 28 June Eastgate Centre (11am-7pm )
  • Thurs 5 July, Tesco Foyer Inverness Retail Park (11am-7pm )
  • Friday 6 July Tesco Foyer, Inshes retail park (11am-7pm )
