Forestry Commission Scotland has appointed forester Julie Wilson as community ranger for Glasgow East.

Julie is responsible for woodlands in the Glasgow East area, including Easterhouse, Old Mine Nature Park, Auchenshuggle and Cuningar Loop.

Her role involves encouraging people to visit and explore their local woodlands and engage with local schools and nurseries to encourage outdoor learning across the sites.

She said: “I’m really excited about my role and look forward to getting to know the communities of the woodlands that I’m working in.  I will be arranging a series of events across the sites and hope to encourage people from all abilities and backgrounds to come along, get involved and explore the wonderful woodlands that are available on their doorstep.”

“If you see me about in the woodlands, please stop to say hello and ask me any questions about the woodlands or share ideas for community events.”

More information on local woods and forests across Glasgow East can also be obtained by contacting Scottish Lowlands Forest District on 03000 676 700.
