The land management plan for the forests of Upper Nithsdale (Cairnhead, Shinnelhead, Polskeoch, Euchanhead, Corserig) has been revised and we are now inviting comments and feedback on the proposed plan.

Community consultation

Two public events were held in June 2017 at Moniaive and Kirkconnel - the feedback received has helped us to shape the plan.  Thank you to all who contributed.

Timeline

  • Spring/Summer 2017: Scoping meetings and data gathering.
  • June 2017: Developing the Design Brief.  Public consultation events in Moniaive and Kirkconnel.
  • Summer/Autumn/Winter 2017: Designing the forest on the ground, including species choice and shapes and management approach. Ongoing consultation.
  • Spring 2018: Application to Forestry Commission Scotland. As part of the approval process, the final proposed plans will be placed on the Forestry Commission public register for 28 days.
