Shimmering pools, grand views and dragonflies in summer

Uath Lochans

Step into the forest

Getting here involves a little adventure up a narrow, winding road – but it's worth it! Uath Lochans is one of the prettiest woodlands in the area, with an easy trail around the lochans or a longer route up to a superb view over Strathspey.

The name is pronounced "wah lochans" – it means the hawthorn small lochs.

How to get here

From Aviemore take the B9152 south to Kincraig. Turn left opposite the war memorial, signposted for Feshiebridge, and follow the road through the village and across the river to a T-junction. Turn right here (signposted for Insh) and after a little less than ½ mile (800 metres), take a left fork signed as a no through road. Follow this road for 1 mile (1.6 km) and the car park is on your right, at NH 838 022.

Using SatNav?

PH21 1NX is a postcode a little further along the road: you will pass the car park before you reach it.
