Forests around Johnstone

The woodlands around Johnstone, Elderslie and Howwood are great places for children to play, friends to stroll and walking groups to keep fit.

Paths lead among the trees right from the street in many places, and you can use buses and trains to get from one forest to another.

Fresh air and birdsong in the back garden of Johnstone and Elderslie. In spring the wood really lives up to its name.

A new forest is growing on the gentle hill leading to the Brandyburn waterfall. If you want a longer outing, paths lead on to Gleniffer Braes.
