Forest Enterprise Scotland has a duty to protect and enhance the environmental features of the National Forest Estate. We will also take opportunities to increase agricultural use of the Estate where this is consistent with our environmental objectives. Following our Starter Farms initiative, we now offer agricultural grazing opportunities on the Estate. Details of current grazing opportunities on National Forest Estate land can be found on this page.
New entrants to agriculture
The Scottish Government is committed to helping New Entrants to Agriculture and those looking to progress from New Entrant status. To assist, applications for grazing land on the Estate will be weighted in favour of suitably qualified New Entrants and Progressors.
While the process favours New Entrants, there may be occasions when these applicants are unable to deliver our desired outcomes. We therefore welcome applications from established graziers/farmers.
At the moment we have no grazing sites available to lease but please continue to check this page for further opportunities. Any information on new grazing sites will be advertised here.
