Loch Katrine

Forestry Commission Scotland took on the management of the land surrounding the catchment area under a 150 year lease in 2005 and produced an interim management plan for the area. This plan proposed the felling of most of the remaining conifer plantations, substantial expansion of native woodland through a combination of planting and natural regeneration and the development of a number of new paths to improve access for visitors. Due to the sensitivity of the area  and the scale of the proposals, an Environmental Statement was required to examine the impacts of the proposed work.
