An application has been made to South Scotland Conservancy of Forestry Commission Scotland under the Environmental Impact Assessment (Forestry) (Scotland) Regulations 1999 for tree planting and associated works (inc forest roads) on Larriston, some 6 kilometres north east of Newcastleton.
Within the total farm area of 1108 ha, 512 ha (or 46% of the gross area) is proposed for woodland development. This includes adding 62 ha of new broadleaves and 450 ha of coniferous woodland to 56 ha of existing mixed woodland, retaining 540 ha of open ground. The proposed planting date is winter 2015/16.
