Celebrate National Tree Week with Tree Dressing at Malls Mire

Forestry Commission Scotland invites everyone to celebrate National Tree Week at a tree dressing event at Malls Mire woodland on Sunday 4th December 2-5pm.

The tree dressing event is a day to celebrate the importance of trees and the life that they provide. Activities include a selection of cultural performances throughout the day, tree dressing, tree stories, making wood animals, a ‘treesure’ hunt with prizes, and many more. In addition to the activities Malls Mire woodland will be lit up from 4pm to show the trees in a magical light.

Craig Thomson, Outreach ranger, working on behalf of Forestry Commission Scotland, said: “Trees are not only an important part of the environment but also to different cultures and faiths. We want everyone to come along and join us to celebrate National Tree Week and enjoy a wide range of different activities themed around the tree.”

The tree dressing event is open to the public with many opportunities to make decorations to hang on trees as well as free hot drinks for those that attend.

Craig continued: “We hope for everyone who joins us to experience the outdoors, engage in activities, meet new people, learn about different cultures and be encouraged to continue to take part in organised events.”

Malls Mire community woodland is situated between Toryglen and Rutherglen. To find out more about the tree dressing event contact Craig Thomson at: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
