Celebrating the Pumpkin Festival at Castlemilk Park

The leaves are getting crisper and the woodlands are changing colour, which only means one thing - Autumn is here alongside Halloween and its pumpkin traditions.

Cassiltoun Housing Association invites everyone to come and enjoy the Pumpkin festivities at Castlemilk Park.

The Pumpkin Festival will run from Sunday 23rd to Wednesday 26th October with many activities including pumpkin carving, pumpkin soup making and a spooky Halloween walk.

Over 900 people attended Castlemilk’s first Pumpkin Festival in 2015, and this year friends, family and neighbours are all invited to come and join in. Richard Bolton, Community Woodland Officer, Cassiltoun Housing Association, said:

“Over the past six years Cassiltoun Housing Association has organised a spooky Halloween walk in the woods at Castlemilk Park, and it has grown into this amazing event, the Pumpkin Festival. We’ve created a range of free activities that people can get involved with from making pumpkin soup to the illumination of the pumpkins."

Hugh McNish, Social Programme Manager, Forestry Commission Scotland added: “Castlemilk Park is a key part of the surrounding community and Forestry Commission Scotland support Cassiltoun Housing Association in offering a range of events to encourage the community to visit their local woodland and engage in exciting activities such as the Pumpkin Festival.”

Castlemilk Park is one of fourteen woodlands that create the Commonwealth Woods a legacy project of the 2014 Commonwealth Games lead by Forestry Commission Scotland. The woods of Castlemilk Park have a network of well-maintained paths that are popular with locals and hold many fun events for all the family.
