Family Forestry Fun at Boden Boo

On Sunday 13th March Forestry Commission Scotland and Erskine Community Nursery joined forces to hold a community event, ‘Family Forestry Fun’ at Boden Boo woodland. The event was open to the public and attracted over 200 people.

Forestry Commission Scotland and Erskine Community Nursery planned the event to introduce parents and children to the positive aspects of outdoor learning and encourage more families to visit their local woodland.

The event was free and encouraged families with children in nursery to join in with activities such as den building, clay art, storytelling, natural music, outdoor play, rope challenges and forestry food.

Romena Huq, Forestry Commission Scotland, said:

“The event has been a great success and I congratulate Erskine Community Nursery for the interest they gathered on the day. I hope this event has raised awareness of how important outdoor learning is for children of all ages.”

Rosanne Burns, Erskine Community Nursery, said:

“The children and parents enjoyed all of the activities, especially making the wooden animals. Many have asked if we are going to repeat the event.”

Forestry Commission Scotland aim to promote the sustainable management of woodlands for the economy, people and environment.
