North Sutherland community aims to buy land at Forsinain

North Sutherland Community Forest Trust (NSCFT) has applied to the National Forest Land Scheme (NFLS) to purchase 37 hectares of land at Forsinain Plantation, North Sutherland.

Administered by Forestry Commission Scotland, the NFLS gives communities the opportunity to bid to buy or lease national forest land on the basis that it provides increased public benefits.

The Trust is looking to buy an area of woodland that they will then manage to secure a sustainable, long-term source of local timber for the adjacent community-owned sawmill at Forsinain.

A 28-day open consultation period is required by the scheme and all comments on any aspect of the proposal detailed in the application must be submitted by 31st December, 2015.

Responses and comments should be addressed to Malcolm Wield, Forestry Commission Scotland, Highland Conservancy, 'Woodlands', Fodderty Way, Dingwall, Ross-shire, IV15 9XB or to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
