Volunteer day in Aberdeen woodland

Forestry Commission Scotland is inviting the public to join in a volunteer day this coming Saturday  (6th June) at Foggieton woodlands.

Foggieton is very close to Aberdeen city centre and the event is a great way to find out more about a new woodland volunteer group that has been set up.

The volunteer day starts from 10am to 12noon and the plan is to remove tree guards from young trees that were planted at Foggieton five years ago.

Forestry Commission Scotland ranger Emily Homes said:

“Volunteering is a fantastic and rewarding way to learn more about the environment, pick up practical skills and meet new friends. People feel great after spending some time volunteering in woodlands.

“Our new volunteer group is based in both Countesswells and Foggieton woodlands. We will be helping with wildlife surveys, conservation, woodland management and how to maintain trail networks.

“This coming Saturday we plan to work around the many young trees that are growing in Foggieton. We’d welcome anyone to come along, get involved and find out more about volunteering.”

All those wishing to come along to the volunteer day should meet at Foggieton Woods car park at 10am. Please wear old outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear.
