Upper Eskdale Development Group makes application to National Forest Land Scheme

Upper Eskdale Development Group (UEDG) has applied to the National Forest Land Scheme (NFLS) to purchase 1.09 hectares of land at Twiglees, in Eskdalemuir, near Lockerbie.

Administered by Forestry Commission Scotland, the NFLS gives communities the opportunity to bid to buy or lease national forest land on the basis that it provides increased public benefits.

UEDG hope to purchase this land to create affordable housing and also to develop the existing barn on the land for small scale commercial uses.

The group is committed to the sustainable economic development of a very isolated area with a long-term objective of rural regeneration, creating job opportunities and sustainable life styles.

A 28-day open consultation period is required by the scheme and public comments on any aspect of the proposal contained in the application are welcome.

All comments must be submitted by Friday 22nd May, 2015 to Malcolm Wield, Forestry Commission Scotland, Highland Conservancy, 'Woodlands', Fodderty Way, Dingwall, Ross-shire, IV15 9XB or to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
