Mull and Iona Community Trust apply to buy piece of Ardmore Forest

Mull and Iona Community Trust (MICT) has applied to the National Forest Land Scheme (NFLS) to purchase an area of land (0.8ha) in Ardmore Forest, Isle of Mull to develop a small scale light industrial and storage site to serve the communities of North Mull.

Administered by Forestry Commission Scotland, the NFLS gives communities the opportunity to bid to buy or lease national forest land on the basis that it provides increased public benefits.

MICT plan to locate a variety of storage and workshop units on the site to meet local demand.  They also hope to incorporate renewable energies on to the site to reduce running costs and provide an income stream.

A 28-day open consultation period is required by the scheme and public comments on any aspect of the proposal are welcome. All comments on the proposals detailed in the application must be submitted by Saturday 16 May, 2015.
