Morvern Community applies to National Forest Land Scheme

Morvern Community Development Company (MCDC)) has applied to the National Forest Land Scheme (NFLS) to lease an area of woodland in Fiunary Forest on the Morvern peninsula.

Administered by Forestry Commission Scotland, the NFLS gives communities the opportunity to bid to buy or lease national forest land on the basis that it provides increased public benefits.

MCDC wish to develop small scale run-of-river hydro schemes on the two rivers - the Barr River and Allt Achadh Forsa - thereby offering an opportunity to the community to generate low carbon electricity and income that can be used to support local projects and initiatives.

A 28-day open consultation period is required by the scheme and public comments on any aspect of the proposal are welcome.

Any comments on the proposals detailed in the Morvern application papers must be submitted by 27th April, 2015.
