Forests of Upper Nithsdale Land Management Plan Consultation

The land management plan for the forests of Upper Nithsdale (Cairnhead, Shinnelhead, Polskeoch, Euchanhead, Corserig) is currently being revised and we are inviting comments and feedback.

We want to know what you think. What are the important issues in these forests? Why do people come here? What should we do differently? What should we carry on doing? What should the forest look like in 50 years?

Community consultation

Two public events were held in June at Moniaive and Kirkconnel - the feedback received will help us to shape the plan.  If you would like to share your views with us please use the contact details below.

Timeline

  • Spring/Summer 2017: Scoping meetings and data gathering.
  • June 2017: Developing the Design Brief.  Public consultation events in Moniaive and Kirkconnel.
  • Summer/Autumn 2017: Designing the forest on the ground, including species choice and shapes and management approach. Ongoing consultation.
  • Winter 2017: Application to Forestry Commission Scotland. As part of the approval process, the final plans will be placed on the Forestry Commission public register for 28 days and you will still have opportunity to comment at that time.
